Schools at Museum Skanderborg

perron 1 inside

At Museum Skanderborg, school visits are not about standing quietly in front of glass cases. They are about getting close to real objects, real places, and real stories from the ground beneath your feet.

Move teaching outside the classroom

Museum Skanderborg's School Service brings curriculum to life in a setting that no classroom can match.

All courses are activity-based, age-differentiated, and built around the learning objectives for each grade level, from Stone Age hunters at Skanderborg Lake to monastic life at Øm Kloster.

Practical information

Is it free?

Yes

For all schools in Skanderborg Municipality. Schools outside the municipality pay a fee. All children and young people up to age 25 visit free of charge regardless of where they come from.

Can courses be adapted to my grade level?

Always

Even if a course is listed for a specific year group, we can adjust it. Just let us know when you book.

Do you work with kindergartens and daycare groups?

Yes

Kindergartens and daycare groups visit free of charge and are welcome to book a guided visit or adapted programme.

Is it suitable for children?

Absolutely!

Perron 1 has a sensory hallway with sound, light, and video that children love, and our events regularly include hands-on activities for families. We recommend checking what is currently on — our events often have something specifically designed for younger visitors.

Do you collaborate with youth education programmes?

Yes!

We work with Campus Skanderborg and other upper secondary schools. Classes from youth education programmes have free access to all venues and we can contribute directly to your curriculum.

What is currently on?

We have rotating exhibitions and regular events throughout the year — lectures, guided tours, workshops, and seasonal festivals. The best way to stay up to date is to check our events calendar or sign up for our newsletter.
